Have you been suffering since you recovered from Covid? You are not alone.
We have been seeing more and more patients with long haul covid symptoms. Recent studies reveal anywhere from 10-30% of COVID-19 patients develop long-haul symptoms lasting for months, even if they had mild cases. These patients are all ages and their symptoms vary drastically.
The CDC recognizes long haul covid symptoms as:
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Tiredness or fatigue
- Symptoms that get worse after physical or mental activities
- Difficulty thinking or concentrating (sometimes referred to as “brain fog”)
- Cough
- Chest or stomach pain
- Headache
- Fast-beating or pounding heart (also known as heart palpitations)
- Joint or muscle pain
- Pins-and-needles feeling
- Diarrhea
- Sleep problems
- Fever
- Dizziness on standing (lightheadedness)
- Rash
- Mood changes
- Change in smell or taste
- Changes in period cycles
The most common symptoms we have seen are fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, and cardiovascular issues, such as fainting and heart palpitations. Most patients we have been seeing with long haul covid symptoms come in twice a week for about a month and then cut back to once a week for a few weeks, and then to every other week as their condition continues to improve. Some are utilizing other healing modalities with acupuncture. Our patients have reported they have found benefit from Sound Healing, Cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy , and herbal medicine. Each of these modalities are specific to different symptoms.
